Mayo Loizou and Leszek Chmielewski founded Marios in 2001 in Tokyo, where later, in 2005, they decided to open a flagship. Currently they live and work in Milan, where they collaborate with various artists, combining art and fashion, with the goal of finding a balance between aesthetics and functionality.
The womenswear autumn-winter 2013-2014 is born from Carpet Dresses, four unique pieces made by hand by the artist Ewa Chacianowska by the gobeline technique. From classic tailoring lines come to life asymmetries studied: the vest turns into a sleeve, the sleeve turns into a shawl and the oversized t-shirt becomes an evening dress. Among the materials used stand for the Japanese eco leather skirts, laminated fabric for trench coats, pleated skirts and pants, next to Nikita tweed and felted wool. The collection also includes three Iceland Scarves, which reproduce the photographs of Giovanna Silva and a capsule collection Marios x Lorenzini, composed of ten pieces in collaboration with the historical Italian shirt.
