He gained his experience along Yves Saint Laurent and Thierry Mugler, where he completed his initial placements, then as assistant to Christian Lacroix from 1986 to 1990 at Jean Patou and Christian Lacroix. Twice winner of the Andam Prize, he launched his own label in 1991 and added men’s ready-to-wear to the women’s collection four years later. In june 2010, Christophe Lemaire is named artistic director of Hermès women ready to wear. Christophe Lemaire designs the clothes he would like to wear himself, and the result is possibly the most universal garde-robe. The ideal wardrobe is the perennial theme of his collections, timeless yet precise garments for each one to mix according to the mood and moment to create a very personal unform.
